  1. Do I have to pay for the program?

No, all our programs are offered free of charge. They are primarily funded by the government and partially by private donors. Due to the funding model, priority is given to Women with PR, Convention Refugee, or Protected Persons.

2. What are the benefits of this program?

  • Supported with First Aid and CPR training (2 Full Day’s 9:30-4:30pm) in person in our office
  • Upon graduating a certificate in Home Support Worker training

3. What is the role of a Home Support Worker? PLEASE note, it is NOT a PSW (Personal Support Worker) course.

  • Provide personal care for adults, children, and seniors
  • Basic homemaking (preparing meals, household tasks, bed-making)
  • Assist with personal care tasks (bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting)
  • Report important client observations
  • Travelling between patients’ homes
  • Other duties as assigned by the employee

4. What is the schedule of the program?

  • Full time commitment for 6 weeks, Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:30am-3:00pm
  • Hybrid of both virtual and in-person training therefore, participants need to be available to come into our office (1-2 days) located at 161 Bartley Dr. near Victoria Park and O’Connor Dr.
  • Must be available 2 days to complete in-person First Aid and CPR training at 161 Bartley Drive between the hours of 9:30pm-4:30pm.

Once you obtain work placement, it will provide you with Canadian work experience and help you build your social and professional networks, but does not automatically guarantee employment.
