Diversity & Social Inclusion

By: Sarah Pirani, LIST Student

Diversity and social inclusion is a sensitive topic to many. Sonia Dong come into New Circles to talk about Diversity and Social Inclusion with the LIST program students on July 29.  The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique and recognizing our individual differences. Social Inclusion is the act of making all groups of people within a society feel  valued and important.

Sonia Dong is a program manager at a wonderful company named Henkaa. This company's philosophy is that everything changes and their mission is “to create convertible apparel and accessories that empower women of all shapes, sizes, and walks of life to do more.”

I think this company's mission and overall outlook is amazing, and the way they make everyone feel included and beautiful in their own skin is very inspirational. Sonia talked about networking with different people, and how everyone’s perspective in life is different. By listening and talking to people with different cultures and upbringings you can see a new perspective on life and even learn more about yourself.
